Birds Found in Chilika Lake – Chilika Lake, located in the eastern part of Odisha, India, spans over 1,100 square kilometers. It is one of the largest brackish water lakes in Asia and the second-largest coastal lagoon in the world.

The lake serves as a haven for numerous migratory birds, particularly during the winter season, as they travel from various parts of the world. According to a report from early 2025, the mid-winter water bird status survey conducted across the 1,165 sq km lake recorded a total of 1,127,228 birds from 196 different species. This included 1,087,226 migratory birds from 109 species and 40,002 resident birds from 87 species.
