Cheetah reintroduced in India after 75 years
The Cheetah has been an integral part of Indian ecosystems, dating back to ancient times. The animal who has a strong muscle power that help to touch 100kmph speed with in some second.
It derives its name from the Sanskrit word ‘c(h]itraka’, meaning spotted. It’s special black patches and trips near eye is a special identification.
Cheetah in India :
The last three cheetah was hunted by Maharaja of Korea ( modern Chhattisgarh) in 1947. In the year 1952, this animal has been declared as extinct animal in India as their number became zero at that time.
Mass hunting, climate changes etc are badly affected the big cat family and their numbers has reduced rapidly with in a short time.
Facts about the Cheetah:
Cheetah is the fastest land animal in the world and can touch the speed up to 120 kmph.
Mostly found in sub-saharan region.
The weight of cheetah lies between 20 and 72 kg.
They’re crepuscular hunters in nature, that means they hunt at sunset and sunrise.
It has a special back spot on its body which is his identification.This one is also the fastest land animal.
With the fastest sprinting It can chase its prey up to 300 m.
Bad thing is that, As per IUCN, they are coming under vulnerable category or red list.
There are nearly 9,000 to 12,000 cheetahs remain in Africa.
India’s cheetah mission 2022:
After a gap of 74 years finally the Cheetahs are back to India.India government has brought 8 Cheetahs from Namibia. Among these eight cheetah five are male and three are female.

A special plane painted with the tiger face has brought these Cheetahs to India. These eight Cheetahs will stay at Kuno-Palpur National Park of Madhya Pradesh.Indian oil contributed a big support of Rs 50cr for this project.
PM Narendra Modi will release these Cheetahs to Kuno National Park.
This will boost India’s Tiger Mission as well as a cherish moment for many wildlife lovers.
