Oimyakon is located in Russia and is famously known as the coldest town in the world. It is named after the river Oymyakon , whose name comes from the Even word kheium, which means “unfrozen patch of water”.
The weather of the town is extremely cold and as per record, the temperature is -48 °C during the winter month.
It is a small town located in the Republic of Sakha in the northeast part of Russia.
According to the UK Meteorological office the in 1933 the temperature of this place goes down to -67.7778 °C. It is also known as ‘The Pole of Cold’.
Residence of the town mainly survives on a carnivorous diet as farming is not possible here.
