India is 10th largest nation by forest area, says Economic Survey-2021-22

But now India is among the top 10 countries that have more Forest areas.India among top 10 countries gaining forest area in the world.
As per the Economic Survey, India has a 7,13,789 square kilometer forest area. In comparison to 2011, India’s forest area increased by 3.14%.
From 2011 to 2021, the forest area in India increased rapidly that is 2,66,000 hector per area.
India has a total of 24% of forest area out of its total geographical area and globally it is 2%.
The top 10 countries are Brazil (59%), Peru (57%), Kango (56%). These top 10 countries have a total of 66% forest area out of the total.Globally, 12.5 million people were employed in the forestry sector. Out of this, India accounted for 6.23 million, or nearly 50 per cent.
Madhya Pradesh has the highest forest area in India.
Highest Forest cover State wise
Mizoram (85 per cent), Arunachal Pradesh (79 per cent), Meghalaya (76 per cent), Manipur (74 per cent) and Nagaland (74 per cent) were the top five states in terms of highest per cent of forest cover
