Nandankanan Zoo needs Protection
Nandankanan is one of the famous zoo of India, situated at a distance of 15km away from the State capital of Odisha. It is built inside the Chandaka forest, where wild animals are kept inside the enclosure.
It’s was established in 29th December 1960 and have more than 2000 animals of 157 species.
It is the home of a large variety of animals and birds, mostly famous for the White tiger and Melanistic tiger.
Visitors came here to see a different kind of animals, boating in the kanjia lake, and loves to enjoy nature’s beauty inside the zoo. They also love to explore the tiger safari, herbivores safari, bear safari, lion safari, and toy train inside the zoo.
But now this famous zoo is suffering. Within a gap of four months, 45 animals lost their lives. Animals like deer, Nil Cow, etc lost their lives due to unfamiliar conditions. The pet elephant of this zoo named Nanda, also died in May 2022.
In summer days, the heat waves caused the maximum death of animals inside this zoo- Zoo authorities added.
Due to the absence of proper management and lack of response this wild hub may going to be a bare land soon.
To control this ongoing problem Odisha tourism department along with NDA should take immediate action to save the lives of many wildlives living in this zoological park.
