Rakhi Bandhan with Eco-Friendly Rakhis

Odisha: To celebrate the Rakhi Festival along with creating awareness on the protection of mother nature Youth For Seva has started a unique initiative that is ‘Rakhi with Seed’.

What is Rakhi Festival?
‘Rakhi Pujan’ is a Hindu festival celebrated across India. On this day sister ties an amulet or a sacred thread called Rakhi around the wrist of his brother. In return, her brother will give her protection, care, and gifts too.

Usually, the Rakhi is made up of thread along with plastics, and this plastic type Rakhi is not biodegradable and can cause environmental pollution.

So Youth For Seva plans to use biodegradable materials and has made Rakhi out of seeds, threads, etc. Which are completely environmentally friendly and have almost Zero chances of pollution.

“Later they will use this eco-friendly seed Rakhi to celebrate Rakshya Bandhan with security personnel- one volunteer added

So after the use, the Rakhi will be thrown away and the seeds inside it will grow as Trees, which is a unique and excellent idea. Thus the Rakhi not only protects her brother but also helps to restore the greenery of mother nature too.

So this Eco-friendly celebration of team Youth For Seva is appreciated and others should follow this idea.
