Why Do Birds Migrate?

Some birds chose to fly thousands of kilometers to get a favorable ecological conditions. It is a natural process and can be found all over the globe.
Before knowing the exact reason behind the story first know
What is Migration? Migration means moving from place to place. Not only birds but also animals even humans also migrate from one place to another place. This process is not a new one it has been here since the beginning of my life.
Now let us know why some birds migrate from one place to another.

There are various reasons behind the migration process, here are some

1. To fulfill the demand for food-
By staying in a single place the food chain process of that ecosystem is somehow affected. They may not find enough food to survive. So to get sufficient food they migrate to a different place in a particular period.

2.To Feel Secure-
Some of the birds do not have such adaptation qualities to survive or bear the climatic condition of a particular area. So they search for a different friendly atmosphere to beat unfavorable conditions like high temperatures, extremely cold conditions, etc. Birds from the Arctic and Tropical regions mainly chose to travel to a friendly atmosphere. Ex- Birds from Syberia fly to Chilika lake in India in the winter season to get relief from the excess cold.

3. To have safe breeding-
For their breeding process, they need a safe place where they can hatch eggs and after the incubation, the little birds can move safely. After some gap, they can fly to other parts with no fear.

How can they migrate such a long distance-
They do not use radar or any such scientific instruments to find their desired place. They use their scene organs like their mind, and eyes and always remember the exact route of their destination. Their sense organs work very effectively in this field. They use this to find the route, navigate the way, and exact climatic conditions also sudden changes.

Threats in Migration-
Usually, they travel a huge distance to reach their destination. After reaching the first problem they face is life-threatening. Yes, the foreign birds’ lives are not safe in that new place. There are some threats like the killing of birds to get money and meat. Instead of saving their life, people love to kill them first. Which directly affects their population.

In the time of hatching, not only humans but also other animals or bird damages their eggs. Some of the eggs have become the food of many organisms. So it is a major problem for their population.

Due to such cases, some bird species have already become endangered and some are extinct. To protect biodiversity not only the government we all should come to work together to provide then security.
